BrandSnark: Good Week/Bad Week for the Big Brands

Standing Up: Tiki – After the ugliness in Charlottsville, the small Wisconsin-based company issued a statement rebuking hate groups’ use of Tiki brand torches. The Detroit Red Wings issued a similar statement regarding the bastardized use of its logo by a bunch of bastards called the Detroit Right Wings. And Go Daddy shut down the url of the leading white-supremacist fake-news site. #usaproud

Good Week: Angry Birds The company responsible for the wildly popular mobile games and movie – Rovio Entertainment – is set to IPO to the tune of about $2B.

Worse Week: The American Workplace – According to a new in-depth study of thousands of U.S. workers, nearly 20% say they face a hostile or threatening work environment, a number the authors – Rand Corporation, Harvard Medical School and UCLA – call “disturbingly high.” Nearly 55% say they face “unpleasant and potentially hazardous” conditions. [Shameless Plug Alert] Time for a BrandFoundations culture engagement, American employers.
